In Barbados, Captain Crowe and Sorrowful Barks have won a famous victory over the beast that haunted the warring English settlements there, but their crew is shaken and uncertain after the monstrous encounter. Meanwhile, an ocean away in Bermuda, Thomas Edge has prepared an escape for Tarquin as they prepare to cover for Mary's theft of the ledger, but Tarquin's revenge against his rival and former captain Goodrich throws their plan into turmoil.
